Full-Service Bookkeeper

Strata Accounting Professional Corporation is seeking a detailed-oriented and skilled Full-service bookkeeper to join their growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports, and performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and financial tasks to ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial information in bookkeeping software.

Full-Service Bookkeeper Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping – Technical

  • Maintain financial records with extreme proficiency using firm accounting software. 
  • Prepare and submit government remittances, including tax HST, EHT, WSIB and payroll remittances.
  • Understand customer claims and filing requirements, filing amendments, and reconciliation against federal and provincial governing accounts for GST/HST/PST.
  • Understand and prepare payroll with various pay types in a variety of companies.
  • Process payroll year-end: T4’s/T4 summary (processing of both, correct discrepancies).
  • Reconcile various types of accounts (i.e. Bank, credit card, loans) of books.
  • Prepare and review working papers for adjustments i.e.: prepaid expense or amortization, capital leases.
  • Ability to utilize financial technology software for bookkeeping efficiency. Ability to research and learn new software.
  • Stay current with technology and remain proficient.
  • Complete assigned work with a minimum level of supervision.

Analysis and Reporting

  • Produce a set of financial statements (month-end or year-end reports) with accuracy, address issues and make corrections/adjustments when required.

Client Service

  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients.
  • Identify opportunities to help clients with their financial requirements and bring them to the attention of the Partner.
  • Responsible for meeting all client deadlines with accuracy.

Staff Development

  • Mentor junior bookkeepers, providing guidance and support while contributing to team members’ professional development.

Qualifications

  1. Education: CPB designation preferred or demonstrated related work experience.
  2. Experience: 4+ years of experience in full cycle bookkeeping in an environment with multiple clients.
  3. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  4. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for positive interaction with clients and colleagues. Ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  6. Interpersonal Skills: Strong client service and leadership orientation. Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and team members.
  7. Professionalism: Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions with clients, colleagues, and partners.
  8. Technical Skills: Proficiency in bookkeeping and financial technology software such as Quickbooks Online, Xero, Dext, Karbon, Google Suites, Microsoft office. Ability to research, and problem solve various financial technology software as they become available.
  9. Agility: Ability to prioritize tasks in a multi-client, deadline-driven environment.
  10. Engagement: Ability to actively participate in team-building initiatives across Strata’s organizational divisions.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $54,600-$60,000 per annum, depending on experience
